VIDEO: Medeama top Bechem, boost bid for maiden GPL title

Medeama SC kept their hopes for a maiden Ghana Premier League (GPL) title alive with a 2-1 win over fellow challengers Bechem United Monday afternoon.

The encounter at Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa was one of the final two fixtures for match-day 30 of the 2022/23 league campaign.

Striker Jonathan Sowah registered the opening goal by smashing a sweet volley from close range in the 19th minute after teammate Derrick Fordjour’s dribble effort got blocked and the ball redirected to his way by a Bechem defender. Watch goal:

Then defender Vincent Atingah scored in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 with his tenth goal of the campaign. The towering centre-back initially beat goalkeeper Aziz Dari to the ball with a header from a corner before having to prod home the rebound the second time after the ball was not properly cleared to safety.
