Tamale City send King Faisal deeper into relegation trouble with 4-0 rout

Tamale City opened match-day 30 of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) on a flying note by routing relegation rivals 4-0 Saturday afternoon.

In-form striker Sampson Eduku extended his tally to 14 goals with a first-half brace recorded in between one each by Sammy Osae Akoto and Godknows Dzakpasu as the Citizens eased into their 9th win of the campaign at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

It was Osae Akoto who set the tone for the big win with the opening goal as early as the third minute.

Eduku made it 2-0 with his first of the day on 14 minutes.

The striker then sealed his brace in the 32nd with Tamale City heading into the break with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

Every hope of Faisal finding a route back into the game in the second half was quickly dashed by Dzakpasu in the 54th minute – goal number 4 for the hosts.

The victory – Tamale City’s third in a 5-game unbeaten run – lifts them temporarily into 10th position with 39 points in the league standings.

King Faisal, on the other hand, are firmly active in the relegation scrap presently sitting 16th with 36 points and risk dropping a place further by the end of this round of games.
