REVEALED: Why Asante Kotoko sacked Seydou Zerbo

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has made known the club’s main reason for firing coach Seydou Zerbo.

The Porcupines parted ways with the Burkinabe coach in March after a series of inconsistent results in the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League.

According to Amponsah, concerns were raised about a potential attack by fans of the club.

“We wanted Seydou Zerbo to stay as the head coach of the club but we picked up information that he would be attacked by the fans,” Amponsah told Oyerepa FM.

“Even before we sacked him, we still had the chance to win the Premier League title, and if you bring in a new coach, we were not sure if he would make that impact we want.

“But we had no option but to sack him because, at a point, there is a fact that the CEO must be sacrificed or the coach.”

Asante Kotoko is currently being managed by youth team coach Abdul Gazale and they lie sixth in the league standings.
