Who is Asante Kotoko’s highest paid player?

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have disclosed the salary structure of their 2022/23 squad.

According to the club’s Communication and Branch Manager, David Obeng Nyarko, the highest-paid player receives a monthly salary of $2,000.

Also, the least paid player, who is a senior high school student, receives GHC2500 monthly.

Obeng Nyarko revealed this in an interview with Angel FM, highlighting the importance of  player welfare at Kotoko.

“I think the highest-paid player takes around $2,000. The least paid player is an SHS boy and he is paid GHC2500 monthly,”

Furthermore, the Communications Manager spoke on the club’s total expenditure on player salaries, confirming its increase since the new management took over.

“The total amount of salaries for the players at the end of the month was around GHC64, 000 but after we took over the salary is now GHC350, 000.

“The salary structure of the club was problematic.”

Rocky Dwamena of T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi is the only student in the squad.

For the highest paid, sources say Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala might be the top-most earner in the squad.

Asante Kotoko are battling for the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League, currently led by Aduana Stars.

The Ogya boys have amassed 47 points while the Porcupines are fourth in the standings with 42 points.
