King Faisal grab 90th-minute winner, defeat Dreams 2-1

Fatao Mohammed netted the game-winner in the 90th minute as King Faisal beat Dreams FC 2-1 in their 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 26 clash on Sunday.

Having defeated Aduana FC in the FA Cup last week and gone unbeaten in the league for three games, the Insha Allah Boys entered the game at Kwame Kyei Sports Complex with high confidence.

Faisal’s resolve was tested as Dreams took an early lead – in the 10th minute – through a solo effort by Mohammed Abubakar.

Baba Yahaya however equalized in the 38th minute with the scores ending 1-1 at the break.

There was little separating the two sides in the second half. While it looked like the spoils would be evenly shared, Fatao smashed home a bullet strike just inside the 90th minute to give the hosts the lead.

Faisal held on for 7 minutes additional time to secure full points.

Victory lifts King Faisal into 10th position in the league standings with 35 points from 26 games. Four points behind, Dreams FC now find themselves actively flirting with the relegation places. They share 31 points with

four other clubs – Tamale City, Legon Cities, Nsoatreman FC and Great Olympics.

King Faisal’s Nasiru Osman Ebla walked home with the man-of-the-match award.
