Hearts seal season double over Nsoatreman with 2-1 win

Hearts of Oak produced a solid performance to beat Nsoatreman 2-1 on match-week 26 of the 2022/23 league season in Accra.

The Rainbow Boys needed a win to move into the top four and at the Accra Sports Stadium they accounted for their opponents.

Nsoatreman have been bad travellers in the league and ahead of the game they had lost 11 away games.

TEAM NEWS:

Hearts coach David Ocloo kept his midfield of Linda Ntange and Eric Esso while Robert Addo returned to the defensive line.

Nsoatreman boss Mohammed Gargo entrusted his attacking midfield to Baba Mahama with Richard Akrofi commanding affairs in defence.

The home side made their intentions clear with constant attack openings and got the lead in the 15th minute.

An own goal scored by Phillip Ofori who tried to clear Linda Ntange’s cross after a foul incident.

The Phobians kept the lead till halftime, continuing well after the break and they scored in the 65th minute.

Yaw Amankwah Baafi connected brilliantly to Ntange’s pass in the Nsoatreman box. 2-0!

However, the visitors reduced the margin three minutes later with a strike from Samuel Ofori.

Nsoatreman were awarded a penalty but after consultation with the assistants, it was overturned.

Hearts of Oak are now third with 42 points in the league standings and two points behind Medeama and leaders Aduana who have 47 points.

Nsoatreman lie 16th on the league log.

They play King Faisal at home while Hearts travel to Bechem United.
