CAF announces new dates for 2023 Women’s Champions League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced new dates for the qualification series of the Women’s Champions League.

This is due to the congested football calendar the federation has decided to play the qualifications in August 2023.

A statement on the Ghana Football Association’s website read:

“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has amended the dates for the 2023 TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League.

“The qualifying edition which was originally scheduled for September 10-25 will now take place in Cote D’Ivoire from August 18 to September 3, 2023.

“This new development means the seven WAFU Zone B member associations are to speed up proceedings to provide representatives for the WAFU tourney.”

Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, and host Cote D’Ivoire are the seven countries making up the Wafu Zone B.

The winner will represent West Africa Zone B in the Caf Champions League.

Hasaacas Ladies won the inaugural edition in 2021.

Later in the Caf Champions League, Hasmal finished second after losing the final to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies also lost 3-0 to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the 2022 Wafu Zone B final.
