Another away game, another Kotoko defeat as Reds lose to Oly in match-week 28

Asante Kotoko failed to maintain a winning run in the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League as they lost 2-0 to Great Olympics at Sogakope.

The Porcupines had recored a 2-1 victory against league leaders Aduana Stars on Sunday and fans believed they can continue for the league crown.

But against Oly, the giants suffered.

Kotoko gaffer Abdul Gazale, started Eric Zeze in midfield while going for a two-man attack of Georges Mfegue and Steven Mukwala.

Olympics took the lead in the 8th minute through Micheal Osei.

The forward connected well to Christopher Nettey’s cross from the left side of attack to give the Dade Boys the much needed lead.

Kotoko failed to draw level after that and Oly hit them again.

Emmanuel Akesseh was gifted a cool opportunity in Kotoko’s 6-yard box after Osei’s strike was parried by goalkeeper Frederick Asare.

Olympics held on till half time and produces a solid display in the second half to claim the points against the Reds.

The Dade Boys had failed to win their last two games.

The victory takes them out of the relegation slots(15th) and they play Gold Stars in their next game.

On the other hand, 5th-placed Kotoko face Tamale City in the next round of fixtures.
