2022/23 MTN FA Cup: King Faisal reach semis past Aduana on penalties after 2-2 draw

King Faisal reached the 2022/23 MTN FA Cup semifinals via penalties following a 2-2 draw against Aduana FC after extra time.

The two sides sold out in an entertaining 4-goal thriller at Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in regulation time, followed by blank extra time before being separated by penalty shootouts.

Centre-back Stephen Anokye Badu gave visiting Aduana a 1-0 first-half lead with a header in the 43rd minute.

Parity was restored just two minutes into the second half after Faisal were awarded a penalty. Abdul Latif stepped up and scored from the spot.

Aduana then produced another headed goal through Frank Owusu who connected to a Sam Adams cross in the 75th minute to make it 2-1.

The lead was short-lived once more just three minutes later by Faisal forward Benjamin Bature.

Extra time followed with neither side finding a decisive goal.

King Faisal won the ensuing tie-breaking shootout 3-1 after four kick rounds to advance to the semifinal where they will face Nsoatreman FC who kicked Real Tamale United (RTU) out earlier on Saturday.
