Samartex suspend Richard Baidoo indefinitely after going AWOL

Goalkeeper Richard Baidoo has been suspended indefinitely by FC Samartex 1996.

It was revealed in a club statement Wednesday that the 24-year-old has been reprimanded for various contract violations that are topped off with his absence from the team without authorization over the last few days.

“Management has taken the decision to indefinitely suspend player Richard Baidoo for acts of discipline, insubordination, and consistently flouting provisions in his contract with FC Samartex.

“The player has gone AWOL since 08/02/2023,” the release read in part.

Baidoo joined the Ghana Premier League newcomers in a permanent move from Hearts of Oak. He started the season as the first-choice keeper.

Baidoo, however, lost his position to the impressive Lawrence Ansah after match-day 6 when he conceded three goals in a brutal home defeat to Bibiani GoldStars on November 13.

In related news, two players – Eric Bosomtwi and Gabriel Bonnah – “have been referred to the FC Samartex 1996 Disciplinary Committee having been charged with acts of indiscipline and insubordination against Management and Technical team.”
