Medeama SC produced two second-half goals to beat FC Samartex 1996 when they met for the first time in the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Sunday.
The match-day 16 clash at Akoon Community Park (ACP) marked long-serving midfielder Joseph Tetteh Zutah’s final game in the colours of the Yellow and Mauves.
The opening half ended in a barren stalemate.
It was striker Jonathan Sowah’s second goal since joining in January that broke the deadlock for Medeama four minutes into the second half.
Then centre-back Vincent Atingah buried a penalty in the 68th minute after substitute Mukhtar Moro was brought down in the Samartex box.
The 2-0 triumph lifts Medeama SC – who also won on the road in midweek – into 9th position on 23 points, three better than FC Samartex who sit in 14th in the league standings after 16 games.
