The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi has received the validation of the Confederation of African Footballto host upcoming matches in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

The quite surprising decision prompted the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ask the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appeal toto review the status of the Kumasi facility as it intends to have the Black Stars play their remaining qualifiers there.
Ghana last hosted a game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 29, 2022 when they faced Nigeria in the 2023World Cup playoffs.
