2022/23 MTN FA Cup: Dreams brush aside Liberty, reach maiden quarterfinals [+VIDEO]

Dreams FC secured the first quarterfinal slot in the 2022/23 MTN FA Cup after thrashing Liberty Professionals 3-0 at Dawu Park on Saturday.

The ‘Still Believe’ boys raced into a two-goal lead in the space of four minutes during the first half before sealing the emphatic win with another goal late on.

Young forward Gael Avocevou Aholou opened the scoring with a free header off a well-delivered cross from Victor Oduro 13 minutes into the Round of 16 clash.

Liberty then conceded an own goal in the 18th minute. Dreams right-back Ebenezer Adade sent a long throw into the box that was flicked on and Prince Boateng Jr. swiped the ball into his own net with an awkward striker’s finish.

Despite the apparent assurance of victory, striker Huzaif Ali added the third with a solo effort after winning the ball from Liberty defender Kwame Paul in the 88th minute to make it 3-0.

Dreams FC are through to the quarterfinals awaiting 7 others who will know their fates on Sunday.
