Referee Rita Nkansah receives Fifa badge; 19 others retained for 2023

Rita Ama Boateng-Nkansah has become the latest Ghanaian referee to achieve Fifa status.

On the way to becoming an international match official, she officiated in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) including the final between Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies and Ampem Darko at the Accra Sports Stadium on May 28, 2022.

Just like last year, Ghana has a combined number of 20 centre referees and assistants for 2023.

Mariama Yunosah – who only became an international referee in 2022 – is not on the approved Fifa list – meaning she has lost her badge for the next 12 months.

Daniel Laryea – viewed as Ghana’s best – is listed for dual roles as centre referee and video match official (VAR)
