Kotoko loan Mudasiru Salifu to Saudia whipping boys Al-Batin FC

Asante Kotoko midfielder Mudasiru Salifu has joined Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al-Batin FC on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 25-year-old – on the last day of 2022 – completed a similar spell of five months with Moldovan champions FC Sheriff Tiraspol.

Mudasiru made 21 appearances across all competitions including games in the 2022/23 Uefa Champions League qualification and the Europa League.

And the left-footed central midfielder has moved up to the Gulf to see out the season with a permanent option included in the loan.

An Asante Kotoko announcement on Tuesday read:

“After a successful period on loan with Moldova Champions FC Sherif Tiraspol, Salifu Mudasiru has joined Al-Batin in the Saudi Arabia Pro League on loan until the end of the season with the option to make the move permanent.”

It is worth noting that Mudasiru Salifu’s contract with Asante Kotoko will end this coming June.

There is no doubt that Al-Batin are the whipping boys of the ongoing Saudi Pro League. At the bottom of the 16-team standings, they have just one point after 11 games, having lost 10 of those games and conceded 3 goals or more in 70% of them. They play at the 6,000-seat Al-Batin Club Stadium.

Midfielder Afriyie Acquah of Black Stars fame was the last Ghanaian to play for the side – a spell that lasted six months on January 30, 2022.
