CHAN 2022: Niger book quarterfinal meeting with Ghana

Niger will battle Ghana in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Algeria come Saturday, January 28.

This is after the Menas stunned Cameroon 1-0 Tuesday night to win Group E of the competition.

An Ousseini Badamassi deflected free-kick in the 69th minute pushed the four-time campaigners through at the expense of the Intermediary Lions who only needed a draw from the game.

Niger advance to the knockouts having won Group E with 4 points and will now have the Black Galaxies, who finished second in Group E, to contend with.

The Niger-Ghana quarterfinal clash is scheduled for Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran with kickoff at 19:00 GMT.

The winner of this last-8 match will face the one between hosts Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire in the first semifinals on Tuesday, January 31, also in Oran.

The grand finale will take place at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on February 4, 2023.
