Badu, Manaf goals return RTU to winning ways against Nsoatreman

Real Tamale United (RTU) returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 win over Nsoatreman FC in a 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 14 clash on Sunday.

The Pride of the North needed a response to their 3-1 hammering on the road against Dreams in their last league game before the FA Cup break last week. On return to Aliu Mahama Stadium, they produced it.

Stephen Badu Dankwa headed in a cross from Kwame Boakye to open the scoring for RTU after 20 minutes.

The first half ended 1-0.

Within five minutes of the start of the second half, Manaf Umar added the second, scoring from the rebound after Daniel Afadzwu parried his initial strike.

The game had to be paused in the 85th minute when RTU captain Nurudeen Mohammed came off worse in a collision with Samuel Ofori of Nsoatreman.

With no ambulance at the stadium to whisk Nurudeen away to the nearest hospital, the available team medics were able to manage his situation until a car arrived.

Moro Iddrisu was introduced as his replacement as play resumed.

Making up for the lost time, center referee Julian Nunoo signaled for 12-minute time added on, during which RTU’s Namham Alidu received a red card.

The 2-0 win sees RTU climb to the 7th spot in the standings with 21 points while Nsoatreman FC now drop to 15th with 17 points.

Stephen Badu Dankwa picked up the man-of-the-match award.
