Fifa Women’s Rankings: One-game Black Queens complete 2022 at No. 59 in the world

Nigeria still on top, South Africa closing, and Ghana keep slipping behind.

The Black Queens of Ghana dropped from 56th position 12 months ago, in the latest Fifa/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking closing out the year 2022.

The Friday, December 9, 2022 release indicates the Black Queens are now ranked 59th in the world and 4th in Africa.

Coach Mercy Tagoe-Qaurcoo’s team had been ranked 47th in the global rankings for women’s football, released every quarter, with an accumulated score of 1,423.32. However, through to the fourth-quarter order, the Black Queens lost as many as 6.55 points and dropped to 1416.77.

The three-place demotion is primarily driven by almost no activity by the Queens.

The Black Queens have played just one game this year – a 2-0 friendly defeat to Morocco in April which fell into the second quarter (June) release.

This resulted in the loss of points which remained unchanged in the third (October) and final (December) rankings for 2022.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, who began 2022 ranked 57th globally and 4th on the continent, knocked Cameroon out to finish the year second behind Nigeria with 1462.12 points.
