Black Galaxies defeat Legon Cities 2-0 in CHAN 2022 preps

Ghana’s Black Galaxies engaged Legon Cities in yet another friendly Thursday afternoon, defeating the Premier League outfit 2-0 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

Both goals were scored in the first half through Sylvester Simba and Evans Osei Wusu.

Coach Annor Walker’s men have been preparing for the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) which kicks off on January 13, 2023, in Algeria.

Earlier this week, the team was boosted by the arrival of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim and forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh. These two players were away with the senior national team at the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup when the Galaxies opened camp.

Barnieh started the game and lasted 73 minutes while Danlad was unused in the game against Legon Cities.

The Black Galaxies will continue their camping at the GSCE for about a fortnight more before heading out for the CHAN in Algeria.

The team is likely to play one high-profile international friendly before the tournament.

Ghana – making a return for the first time since 2014 – will compete in Group C with Madagascar, Sudan and Morocco.

In the coming week, the Black Galaxies are scheduled to depart for Egypt where they will wrap up preparations before heading to Algeria for the CHAN tournament.
