Aziz Nurudeen signs Hearts extension until 2025

Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen has signed a new three-year contract that ties him to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) giants until 2025.

The 24-year-old was due to be out of contract in a matter of days.

Aziz has struggled with several injuries since arriving from Division One side Vision FC in December 2019.

After his first season was curtailed by the outbreak of COVID-19, the combative midfielder picked up a knee injury in February 2021 during a 2020/21 GPL first-round clash with Legon Cities.

Aziz was sidelined for almost a year and returned in the second round of the 2021/22 league campaign – making just 13 appearances in both the GPL and FA Cup competitions.

Currently, he is being put through rehabilitation after successful corrective surgery on a thigh setback he suffered during a league game away to Bechem United in early May.

On Thursday, the player met with the management of the Phobians who succeeded in convincing him to commit to a three-year contract renewal after initially preferring to sign for two more years.

Hearts announced the breakthrough Friday afternoon:

Meanwhile, a mutual contract termination has also been announced by the club for midfielder William Opoku Asiedu.
