Accra Lions battled back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with FC Samartex 1996 on Monday afternoon in the resumption of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Due to the closure of Accra Sports Stadium to football for the festive season, the match-day 9 fixture had to be transferred to WAFA Park in Sogakope.
In the 10th minute, 26-year-old attacker Giyasu Ibrahim put Samartex ahead, proving their recent streak of two consecutive victories was not an accident.
It took Lions five minutes from the break to equalize with winger Hagan Frimpong placing a perfect header on a David Oduro corner.
Forward Seidu Abubakari of Samartex was awarded the game’s man-of-the-match prize following an even second half between the two teams.
With the 1-1 draw, Accra Lions, who had lost their last two games, now have 16 points, while FC Samartex possess 11 points from nine games.
