A goal in stoppage time gave Medeama SC the edge over Kotoku Royals on match-day 8 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Midfielder Prosper Boakye Owusu climbed off the bench to score the decisive goal for the Yellow and Mauves in the hard-fought win at Akoon Community Park Sunday afternoon.
The 18-year-old stepped in for Rashid Nortey in the 51st minute and – demonstrating quality – produced the magic to break the deadlock with an outstanding header past goalkeeper Clinton Quaye following an Ibrahim Yaro cross in the first minute of added time.
A first win in the last 6 games moves Medeama to 12th on 10 points in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League standings.
Kotoku Royals, meanwhile, are now rock bottom in 18th position with 4 points after their sixth defeat in 8 games heading into the World Cup break.
