Struggling Medeama SC travelled to hold Bibiani GoldStars to a 1-1 draw in the absence of head coach David Duncan on match-day 7 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
After the team suffered their fourth straight defeat this campaign when they lost at home to Asante Kotoko, coach Duncan took a leave of absence for a scheduled appointment in Qatar. As a result, assistant coach Umar Abdul Rabi led the Yellows and Mauves to Dun’s Park on Wednesday.
And the visitors took a surprise lead just 13 minutes into the game.
Experienced midfielder Kwasi Donsu opened the scoring with his second goal of the campaign by feeding on a brilliant pass from winger Derrick Fordjour.
But striker Ibrahim Laar made it a third straight scoring outing by equalising for GoldStars in the 38 minute – his fourth goal so far.
The second half was more competitive and neither side managed to dominate as the game ended 1-1.
Bibiani GoldStars go 7th in the standings on 10 points while Medeama sit 13th with 7 points from as many games.
This is the second consecutive game in which Ibrahim Laar of GoldStars received the man-of-the-match award.
