Dreams FC surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in their 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 8 visit to Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
A brace from David William Van Dijk had the ‘Still Believe’ side cruising at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Dreams found themselves ahead at halftime thanks to Van Dijk’s effort in the 14th minute.
It was Ishmael Dede who worked his way around a forest of legs before cutting back from inside the box for the striker to tap home the opener.
Within three minutes of the second half, Van Dijk scored Dreams FC’s second goal, heading home a rebound from a corner kick.
The deficit was halved in the 75th minute when Dreams FC’s Collins Boah scored an own goal from just outside the box. He did this after completely miskicking a clearance attempt over the head of goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey.
This gave Hearts more impetus to push for the leveller.
And a late goal by substitute Benjamin Yorke saved the day for the Phobians as they secured a point from 2-0 down.
In similar fashion to his performance against Accra Lions midweek, the 26-year-old forward scored on the 90th-minute mark with a powerful strike after replacing Rashid Okine in the 80th minute. Super sub.
The result means that Hearts of Oak climb to 5th position in the league standings with 13 points, one behind arch-rivals and defending champions Asante Kotoko and three adrift of leaders Aduana FC.
Dreams FC, meanwhile, sink into the relegation zone in 16th place on 8 points with as many games played.
The Ghana Premier League takes a break until the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup is over in late December.
