GoldStars dismantle sorry Samartex 3-0 in Samreboi

Bibiani GoldStars made a short trip to Samreboi to stun FC Samartex 1996 3-0 on match-day 6 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Timbers were looking to record their very first top-flight victory since having their Nsenkyire Sports Arena (NSA) approved by the GFA Club Licensing Board. They had drawn 0-0 with Great Olympics at the venue on October 31 and hoped to make amends by serving their home fans what would have been their first three points after drawing the opening four games of their GPL debut campaign and losing to Asante Kotoko last week.

It wasn’t the case as coach Michael Osei masterminded an annihilation of the Annor Walker-coached Samartex side.

Yahaya Abdul Rahman put GoldStars in front after 13 minutes and the status quo remained till the break.

In-form striker Ibrahim Laar increased the Miners’ lead in the 67th minute – his third this campaign.

Ten minutes from time, Yahaya registered his brace to make it 3-0, effectively putting the game beyond redemption for the hosts.

A second consecutive defeat for Samartex means they now sit 16th in the league standings with 4 points.

Bibiani GoldStars also leap into 9th position with as many points after match-day 6.
