Aduana FC suffered a first defeat in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) as they went down 1-0 to Real Tamale United (RTU) at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale on Sunday.
Going up north for the match-day 6 fixture, the two time-league winners had occupied the top of the standings following four wins and a draw.
But they could not handle the ‘Pride of the North’ who were keen on building momentum from their shock but impressive win in Berekum on match-day 5.
Stephen Dankwah Badu scored the only goal of the game as early as the 13th minute
RTU attacker Manaf Umar won the man-of-the-match award.
Now on 8 points and in 11th position in the standings, RTU have two each in wins, draws and defeats after 6 games.
Aduana, meanwhile, lose top spot and drop to third place with 13 points, just behind champions Asante Kotoko who only beat them with a superior goal difference.
Accra Lions now lead the pack with 15 points following their away win at Bechem United.
