VIDEO: Kwabena Owusu nets opener as Qarabag continue perfect league start

Forward Kwabena Owusu continues to knock on the door of World Cup-bound Ghana’s national team selectors with his fine form as he helped Qarabag FK to maintain their perfect start to the 10-game-old 2022/23 Azerbaijani Premyer Liqa Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old scored first to set the tone for the champions to sweep aside Turan-Tovuz IK with a 3-0 win at home.

What is now Owusu’s third goal in 9 of the games played arrived as early as the second minute when he cooly finished off a well-threaded pass from midfield. Watch goal:

Three minutes from the break, Ramil Sheydayev converted a penalty to double the lead.

And Filip Ozobić also scored eight minutes into the second half to dust off the 3-0 win for Qarabag who have now beaten every opposition in 10 straight league games so far.

Kwabena Owusu enjoyed 90 minutes of game time in the win against Turan. While today’s strike is his third in the league, it is also his 7th overall for Qarabag in 21 appearances this campaign. He has scored two each in the Uefa Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League.
