Newly-promoted Tamale City FC and Real Tamale United (RTU) played to a 1-1 draw in the Dagbon derby at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Monday.
The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 4 fixture marked the first-ever topflight meeting between the two Tamale-based sides.
RTU – who were playing guests – scored first through Baba Kushibo in the 39th minute.
But City got back on level terms just before halftime break after goalkeeper Lukman Sherrif lunged at a City player in his penalty box.
Isaac Mensah elected himself and converted the spot kick.
The game stayed lock 1-1 for the rest of the game.
The point gained is the first for 17th-placed Tamale City after four matches in their maiden topflight campaign. For RTU, who lie just above, they are on two points.
