RC Strasbourg coach, Julien Stéphan is hopeful a hamstring strain Ghana defender Alexander Djiku picked up on Sunday is “not too serious.”
The reliable centre-back, 28, had to be pulled off just 26 minutes into his side’s 2-2 draw away to Toulouse FC in the French Ligue 1.
Djiku – who is one of the Black Stars’ foremost defenders for the 2022 Fifa World Cup next month – felt severe discomfort in the hamstring and had to give up his place for Lucas Perrin in the three-man Strasbourg backline.
Speaking on the extent of the injury after the game, coach Julien said vice-captain “Alex has a little muscle problem.”
“It pulled on the hamstring a bit, I hope it’s not too serious.”
Alexander Djiku is expected to have a scan on Monday.
