Ghana forward Kwabena Owusu opened the scoring as Qarabag FK thrashed FC Nantes 3-0 in Group G of the 2022/23 Uefa Europa League Thursday night.
The Azerbaijani side were ending a 10-game winless run at home in the competition.
In a dominant performance, Qarabag had to pursue until the hour mark for the breakthrough goal courtesy Kwabena Owusu who had come close twice.
The 25-year-old forward – who was deployed as the main striker – received a pass from Croatian midfielder Filip Ozobić and beautifully paced the ball past onrushing Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont.
Five minutes later, Abdellah Zoubir doubled the lead while Marko Janković finished off the victory with the third goal for Qarabag in the 72nd minute.
Qarabag FK are now on three points after two matches in Group G. They lost 2-1 away to SC Freiburg in the opener.
