Mohammed Kudus netted a brace to make it three straight scoring outings as Ajax demolished Heerenveen FC 5-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.
Making his first league start after starring in the Uefa Championship League in mid-week, the Ghana international was again deployed as a false number 9 – a role he excelled in with that spectacular goal against Rangers.
Goals in the 4th and 16th minutes from Davy Klaassen and Kenneth Taylor respectively had given the champions a 2-0 lead in the first half at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Then just three minutes into the second half, Kudus pounced on a loose ball to score his first and hand Ajax a 3-0 lead.
Eleven minutes later, Kudus added his second to make it 4-0 for Ajax. This time, he was laid through with a pass from Jorge Sanchez and was left with only the goalkeeper to beat which he did comfortably.
The brace means he has scored 4 goals in his last three games for Ajax.
Making his way out of the game for Lucas Ocampos in the 72nd minute, Kudus was treated to a massive standing ovation from the Ajax fans.
He received the King of the Match award for his splendid performance.
