Karela halt Dreams FC’s winning spin

Karela United FC continued their home dominance by beating Dreams FC 2-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park on match-day 3 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Aiyinase-based side claimed a resounding victory against Dreams who have gone seven games without defeat from last season.

Karela coach Kobby Mensah started Solomon Twene and skipper Kwadwo Addai in defence while Matthew Kevin Andoh led the attack.

For Dreams, gaffer Ignatius Osei Fosu went for Sylvester Simba to operate as attacking midfielder and Ali Huzaif started upfront.

Matthew Kevin Andoh scored the first goal in the 11th minute and Enock Agblenyo widened the margin for Dreams to fight back for a win.

Karelas’s early dominance meant they needed a goal after threatening strongly in attack and Andoh’s exciting finish in the 11th minute was what the Passioners needed.

Karela went on to double their lead, thereby limiting coach Osei Fosu’s charges from getting the leveller in the encounter and Enock Agblenyo fired them up in the 19th minute; 2-0!

Dreams then tried to score before halftime just to inspire a comeback but they met a solid Karela defensive teamwork.

The second half was more controlled by the home side despite their guests playing excitingly well in attack.

Kwadwo Addai was adjudged the man-of-the-match.

Dreams will now face Accra Lions at home in their next league fixture while Karela plays Nsoatreman FC.
