GoldStars snap losing streak, defeat Bechem at home

Bibiani GoldStars beat Bechem United 1-0 at home on Sunday to take their first points in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign following back-to-back defeats in the opening games.

The Miners started the new season with losses to Dreams FC at Dun’s Park and away to Nsoatreman FC, putting pressure on coach Michael Osei to snap the streak.

As expected, GoldStars took control from the start and scored the opener before 20 minutes.

Evans Owusu crossed a ball from the left side of the Bechem United goal area and was met by a header from midfielder Michael Enu which resulted in a goal.

The goal gave GoldStars a boost and with their supporters behind them, they kept pushing and pressing the Hunters.

Bechem were not at their usual best and created just a few chances.

Bibiani GoldStars now have three points from as many games while Bechem United, with a game in hand, have lost both games played so far.

Michael Enu was adjudged man of the match.
