Aduana fight back from 2-0 down to draw at home to Samartex

Aduana FC roared back from 2-0 down at halftime to draw 2-2 with FC Samartex 1996 in a drama-filled 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 3 game on Sunday.

The two-time league champions had impressively won both games from the start of the campaign and that streak never looked in doubt especially playing in front of their vociferous fans at the Nana Agyeman Badu (NAB) I Stadium.

But Aduana were in for a shock first half from Samartex.

New signing from Asante Kotoko, Emmanuel Keyekeh put the visitors ahead after 28 minutes.

Samartex scored again to make it 2-0 in the 42nd minute through striker Seidu Abubakari who was also on target for the side in their last game.

Aduana then staged a gritty comeback in the second half.

Before that, the Fire Club were awarded quite a controversial penalty in the 50th minute.

But striker Bright Adjei’s effort was saved by goalkeeper Richard Baidoo for Samartex.

In-form winger Sam Adams, however, managed to inspire the comeback by getting a goal back in the 54th minute.

Then 11 minutes from time, midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong continued his new-found scoring form by grabbing the equaliser for Aduana. He netted last week against King Faisal in Kumasi.

Aduana FC go on 7 points in the standings while debutants Samartex who would feel merited more than the 2-2 stalemate have now drawn all their first three games.
