A Samuel Ofori second-half penalty against Bibiani GoldStars gave debutants Nsoatreman FC their first-ever win in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) Friday afternoon.
After seeing their opening game of the 2022/23 season against champions Asante Kotoko rescheduled last week, the newly-promoted side had to make their topflight bow via the match-day two round of games at home – the Nana Amoah Koramansah II Park.
After a tight opening hour, visiting GoldStars thought they had found the opener two minutes later when Richmond Opoku Mensah headed home after a free-kick was directed to his path by Samuel Ofori but the goal was controversially chalked off for a non-existent offside by the referee.
Almost 10 minutes later, Nsoatreman won a penalty and Samuel Ofori stepped up and expertly converted for his side’s maiden goal in the Ghanaian topflight.

Nsoatreman held on to the solitary goal lead to pick up their first three points.
That also condemned Bibiani GoldStars to two straight defeats having lost their opening match of the season at home to Dreams FC last weekend.
