Why GFA delayed use of GhanaCard for 2022/23 player registration

The Ghana Football Association suspended its decision to utilize the Ghana Card for player registration ahead of the 2022/23 season.

All Ghanian based clubs were expected to file their players for competitions with the Ghana Card.

And Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia further stated that the move will reduce age cheating.

FA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo in an interview with Starr Sports, revealed that the plan is on hold.

“Yes, initially we had communicated to all clubs that the Ghana card will be solely used for player registration before the league commences.

“But we had to put it on hold because most of the people involved in this exercise don’t have their cards ready to use for the whole exercise.”

The 2022/23 football season is expected to begin on the weekend of 9th to 12th September. The Ghana Premier League will start before all the other competitions.
