Emmanuel Lomotey joins Malmö FF on 4.5-year deal

Swedish champions Malmö FF have secured the signing of Ghana international Emmanuel Lomotey, the club announced Tuesday morning.

The 24-year-old – known for his versatility as a central midfielder and defender – arrives from French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC where he totalled 55 outings in two seasons.

Lomotey – who has 7 senior caps for Ghana – signed a 4.5-year contract that keeps him on the books of Malmö until 2026.

“I feel a great pride. Malmö FF is the biggest club in Sweden so I am happy to be here and looking forward to starting training with the team.

“I think I have qualities and attributes that will help the team. The goal is to help Malmö FF win titles and play group games in Europe. Together with my teammates, we will achieve as much as we can together,” the lanky player said in his first interview.

Malmö FF’s Director of Sports, Daniel Anderson also stated: “Emmanuel is a player we have known for a long time but who we did not think was possible to connect with us until the last week.

“He is a central midfielder and has all the qualities that we think are important for that position. He is a physical type of player who is also skilled in both the long and short passing game.”

Emmanuel Lomotey is a Dreams FC of Ghana product and has previously enjoyed stints with Spanish lower-tier sides Extremadura UD and Villarreal B.

He has been handed shirt number 40.
