betPawa takes over as Ghana Premier League title sponsor

betPawa will be unveiled as the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Barring any unforeseen development, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) plans to make the new partnership with the gaming company official before noon on Wednesday, August 3.

A renewable contract for three seasons – beginning the 2022/23 campaign – has been struck between the two parties.

betPawa’s arrival ends a little over a three-year chase for a title sponsor for the topmost local club competition in the country.

The GPL’s last headline sponsor was ZylofonCash in 2018 but the five-year deal worth $10 million deal ended abruptly within its first few months.

The league is now expected to be referred to as the betPawa Ghana Premier League throughout the duration of the deal.

betPawa operates online sports betting business designed to help users to bet on games with 24 hours customer support. Apart from Ghana, its parent companies also operate in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Nigeria. It is based in Tallinn, Estonia.
