2022 Caf Awards: Kamaldeen Sulemana in final shortlist for Young Player of the Year

Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has made the final list of nominees for the upcoming 2022 Caf Awards’ Young Player of the Year category.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) whittled down its initial 10-man nominations Monday morning.

And the 20-year-old sailed through but will be up against four other young performers – Dango Ouattara, Karim Konate, Pape Matar Sarr and Hannibal Mejbri – for the coveted gong.

“The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of Caf Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stage of the Interclub competitions for the 2021/22 season,” Caf explained.

Sulemana stole the limelight when he made a big-money move for a youngster from Danish side FC Nordsjælland to Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1.

Amid injuries, he managed to complete his debut season with 20 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists while also making it to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) with Ghana’s Black Stars.

The 2022 Caf Awards 2022 will be held in Rabat, Morocco on July 21, 2022.
