Ghana forward Joel Femeyeh has chosen to stay in the Russian second tier after sealing a free agent agreement with Rubin Kazan.
After leading their promotion to the Russian Premier League for the 2022/23 season, the 25-year-old has opted to leave when his contract with FC Orenburg runs out at the end of June.
In quite an interesting twist, Fameyeh prefers to continue playing in the Football National League (FNL) by reaching terms with Kazan who suffered relegation from the top tier for the first time in 19 years.
The 6-times capped Ghana international has signed a three-year contract and will be wearing shirt number 20, Rubin Kazan announced on Thursday.

Fameyeh has been on the books of Orenburg since 2019 during which he scored 34 goals in 84 appearances. 15 of the goals and as well 6 assists came in the just-ended 2021/22 campaign.
Previously, the footballer played for Ghanaian sides Asokwa Deportivo and Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities), Belshina and Dynamo Brest – both also in Belarus.
