Asante Kotoko have won the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) with three games to spare after drawing 1-1 away to AshantiGold in an outstanding match-day 29 fixture Thursday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors seal the title with an unassailable 10-point lead over Bechem United and Medeama SC who tie just below them with 50 points.

AshantiGold took a deserved lead after 10 minutes at Len Clay Stadium through winger Yaw Annor whose latest goal took his tally to 20 and matched Kotoko’s Franck Etouga Mbella in the cagey top scorer race.
The Miners could have scored more before the break, especially through Annor who personally failed to convert two glaring chances.
Despite playing second best, Kotoko would show the champions’ spirit in them by equalizing in the 67th minute. Centre-back Maxwell Agyemang found himself unmarked to head home a free-kick from captain Imoro Ibrahim.
Kotoko looked more buoyant from then on and created more openings but the game would finish 1-1.
Coach Prosper Narteh’s men have now amassed 60 points from 31 matches while AshantiGold remain in 10th with 43 points.
