2022 Wafu-B U-17 Cup: Hosts Ghana to face Burkina Faso in semifinals

Burkina Faso will take on hosts Ghana next after topping Group B of the ongoing 2022 Wafu Zone-B U-17 Cup of Nations at Cape Coast.

The Young Stallions produced a remarkable comeback from two goals down to defeat highly-fancied Cote d’Ivoire 4-2 on Saturday.

Dauda Soro converted a 6th-minute penalty while Doumbia made it 2-0 for the Baby Elephants at the hour mark.

Captain Farouk Ouattara scored an amazing goal to give the Burkinabes some hope of a comeback.

Ousmane Camara then put them in the lead with a 4-minute brace

Deep into stoppage time, substitute Adramani Fareouz Ouedraogo finished off the six-goal thriller with an easy tap-in

Semifinal fixtures

It’s business end as the winners at this stage kill two birds with one stone – qualification to the grand finale and as well a ticket to the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Algeria as Wafu Zone-B representatives.

The semifinal games will be played on Tuesday, June 21 at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Nigeria – who finished top of Group A – will play Cote d’Ivoire in the first semifinal at 15:00 GMT.

The second semifinal is at 18:30 GMT between Burkina Faso and the Black Starlets of Ghana.
