2022 Toulon Tournament: Ghana finish last in Group B after defeat to Venezuela [+VIDEO]

Ghana finished last in Group B after succumbing to a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to Venezuela at the ongoing 2022 Maurice Revello (formerly Toulon) Tournament Sunday afternoon.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Stade de Lattre – Aubagne before the South Americans went on to win the shootouts.

The Black Satellites turned out a much-improved side judging from their opening two games but chances conversion remained a bane.

After a barren first half, captain Zubairu Ibrahim put Ghana ahead, scoring after some beautiful team play in the 54th minute.

But 20 minutes later, La Vinotinto equalized through their captain and Club Brugge striker Dani Perez who headed home a cross from Paz.

In the shootouts, Venezuela converted four out of 5 kicks while Ghana scored and missed two.

Coach Karim Zito’s side stand no chance of advancing to the semifinal but will have to wait to play in a classification match in the coming days to determine their placing in the 12-nation tournament.
