2021/22 GFA Champion of Champions for September 4

The ‘Champion of Champions’ clash for the 2021/22 season has been confirmed to come off Sunday, September 4, the GFA has announced.

As traditionally known and according to Article 9 of the Premier League Regulations (PLR), this is a one-off match played between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup of a particular season.

The ‘Champion of Champions’ game was not held after the 2020/21 season as Hearts of Oak – per Article 9(3) of the Premier League Regulations – became “automatic treble winners” having won the double – the Premier League and FA Cup.

There is the need for one this term as it is glare there will be a different set of winners for the two domestic competitions.

Asante Kotoko won the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League while the FA Cup title is set to be decided between holders Hearts of Oak and one-time winners Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 26.

Venue of the ‘Champion of Champions’ which will herald the upcoming season is yet to be confirmed

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign is expected to kick start the following weekend.
