Olympics beat Berekum Chelsea to brighten Top 4 chances

Great Olympics ended a three-game winless run by beating Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday to open match-day 28 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Dade Boys scored in either half to snap a run of two defeats and a draw from the month of April.

Amos Acheampong delivered the opener within just 4 minutes of play beautifully curling the ball past Melike Dzado who made a rare start in the post for the Bibires.

Despite going behind, it was Berekum Chelsea who possessed the ball well and always looked dangerous in attack but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal till the break.

Olympics did what mattered most – scoring. And they extended their lead to 2-0 through a goal produced by the Quaye brothers. Winger Samuel Abbey Ashie – not long after coming off the bench – fed on a pass from his senior brother Maxwell and scored in the 74th minute.

The 2-0 victory sees Great Olympics brighten their chances in the Top4 by moving to 43 points, same as Medeama SC who play on Sunday. Berekum Chelsea, on the other hand, risk falling a few places down from 8th position by the end of the match-day 28 round of games.
