Wonders and Olympics draw 0-0

Eleven Wonders played a frustrating 0-0 tie with Great Olympics in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) at Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman Saturday afternoon.

Both sides went into the match-day 27 fixture on the back of 1-0 defeats from the previous week.

It was a game that produced some decent scoring opportunities but either side failed to make good with their final balls into the box in the first half.

Olympics mostly looked the more likely to break the deadlock in the second half but had goalkeeper Joseph Baah standing between them and a goal.

Late on, hosts Wonders stepped up the ante in chase for the breakthrough goal but were denied by an Olympics side that managed the game so well by defending in numbers.

Olympics had to play the final minutes of the game with 10 men as goalkeeper Stephen Kwaku was sent off in added time.

Centre referee Rustum Gameli Senorgbe had signalled for 7 minutes of stoppage time but the tension-packed encounter travelled to the 15th before the final whistle was blown.

The draw means Eleven Wonders’ points tally increases to 29 while Olympics also move to 40 points from 27 games.

Joseph Baah, the Wonders shot-stopper, won the NASCO man-of-the-match award.
