Furious Hearts director slams “very useless” referee Kenny Padi for Super Clash penalty

Hearts of Oak Board member, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe took serious issue with refereeing after a key decision influenced his club’s defeat in Sunday’s Super Clash to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

The Porcupine Warriors were handed a contentious penalty in the first half of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 24 fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

It was a 16th-minute incident that saw Hearts’ Aziz Nurudeen try to win the ball from Fabio Gama in the 18-yard box.

Centre referee Kenny Joseph Padi, who was close to the incident, adjudged that the Brazilian import had been illegitimately challenged and pointed to the spot without hesitation.

Kotoko went on to score the penalty through Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella. And that proved the matchwinner.

The penalty decision and general refereeing performance have been the talk of town with Nyaho Tamakloe brutally joining the outpour.

“The referee today was very useless,” he told Angel FM after the Super Clash in Kumasi.

“If this is the level of officiating we are going to witness from our referees, we will call for foreign referees to games like this.

“There was no penalty there to take,” Nyaho Tamakloe added.

Following the win, league leaders Asante Kotoko have gone 16 points clear of the Phobians with 10 matches left.
