Bechem defeat Olympics, stay on heels of leaders Kotoko

Bechem United defeated Great Olympics to keep up their chase on leaders Asante Kotoko after match-day 23 of their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Hunters took the three points with a 1-0 victory in front of their home fans at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park Monday afternoon.

It was playmaker Augustine Okrah who scored the winner with his 10th goal of the season after 12 minutes.

An overly careful Olympics backline allowed Paul Kwei Jnr to dance through two defenders into the box before setting up Okrah who improvised to firmly blast home after a half-turn with his right foot.

Olympics came close to going level before halftime but striker Samuel Armah uncharacteristically blasted over the bar.

Bechem pursued another goal with the introduction of striker Hafiz Konkoni in the second half but failed to find the back of the net again.

The Hunters are back in second position and remain 8 points adrift of leaders Asante Kotoko (49) who beat King Faisal 1-0 in the Kumasi derby on Sunday.

Olympics surrender their 4th spot to Hearts of Oak though both sides are tied on 36 points after 23 matches.
