Hearts frustrate Berekum Chelsea in 0-0 draw

Berekum Chelsea laboured to a barren draw against Hearts of Oak in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match=day 22 home fixture on Wednesday.

After having to rest during the previous match-day as a result of the postponement of their away trip to King Faisal in Kumasi, the Bibires were back at their favourite Golden City Park grounds welcoming the defending league champions.

Struggling to cope with play due to the nature of the turf, the Phobians surrendered possession, allowing Chelsea to control play.

But despite looking the more likely to get that elusive goal as the game wore on, the hosts could not make the most of the opportunities that befell them after finding their way through the Hearts backline.

A frustrated Berekum Chelsea coach Rui Gregório was left to slam the tactic employed by the Phobians, saying only one side came to play the match.

The 0-0 stalemate leaves Berekum Chelsea 8th in the standings on 30 points from 21 games, while Hearts – who have played a game more – also maintain 5th position with 33 points.

The Phobians’ current position is however threatened by Medeama (on 33 points) whose match with King Faisal got rained off and is set to be completed on Thursday morning.
