Bechem United apologise to Kotoko’s Mbella

Bechem United have rendered an apology to Asante Kotoko player Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella for an incident that happened in Tuesday’s 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 19 clash.

Centre-back Samuel Osei Kuffour stamped on the shoulder of the Cameroon international at the blind side of referee Kenny Padi in the 22nd minute of the game at Bechem and has since received bashing from many for the unsporting behaviour.

The Hunters have, however, apologised to Mbella and said they will take disciplinary measures against their player.

“We wholeheartedly apologise to Asante Kotoko SC player Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella and the entire football fraternity for the unsporting behaviour exhibited by our young defender Samuel Kuffour during the first half of the match-day 19 between Bechem United and Asante Kotoko.

“We would like to reiterate that though Osi Kuffour has been one of the most disciplined players in camp, the management of Bechem United has taken disciplinary measures against him to serve as a deterrent to the entire team,” read a club statement.

The game ended in a barren draw, meaning Bechem United dropped to 4th position in the league standings while Asante Kotoko still lead the pack.
